Every year half of the DCTM Board is elected in May.
Officer Descriptions of Even Year Election Positions
Treasurer: The Treasurer shall collect and disburse such funds as are authorized by the President or the Board of Directors, shall handle all DCTM accounts, shall oversee all DCTM budgets and contracts, and shall collect all DCTM dues. The Treasurer shall prepare a financial statement for each Board meeting and shall facilitate an annual audit of the organization’s financial records at the conclusion of each fiscal year.
County Representatives: Each County Representative and the Private/Parochial School Representative shall submit articles for two of the three editions of the newsletter during each school year, and shall serve on the Nomination/Election Committee in odd years. Collect a list of math teachers in your county (or private/parochial schools) to help in finding new members.
Presidential Awardee Representative: The Presidential Awardee Representative shall serve as the liaison to the Presidential Awards Program, shall serve as the DCTM representative at the Presidential Awards application readings and at the State Presidential Awards dinner, and shall submit any pertinent information to the newsletter.
Public Relations Officer: The Public Relations Officer shall manage internal and external communications on behalf of DCTM, including the dissemination of information to members and maintenance of social media platforms. The Public Relations Officer shall commission, format, proofread, publish, and distribute the newsletter three times per year and shall send timely reminders to Board members regarding submission deadlines. The Public Relations Officer shall collaborate with other officers and committee chairs to ensure timely and accurate communication and shall attend to other such duties as the President may direct.

President Elect is a 4-year transitional position as follows:
1 year as President Elect + 2 years as President + 1 year as Past President
The general tasks of a Board member include:
Have fun.
Attend DCTM Board meetings during the school year (approx. 1 meeting a month). Can connect remotely.
Spread the word about DCTM to new teachers and student teachers.
Contribute articles to the DCTM newsletter (2 articles/year).
Assist with the Math League State-Wide Competitions, as needed (usually in March or April).
Assist with the Annual Poster Contest and Reception, as needed (held in April for Math Awareness Month).
Officer Descriptions of Odd Year Election Positions
President-Elect: The President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President when requested by the President to do so or whenever the President shall be unable to perform the duties for which the President was elected. The President-Elect shall, in collaboration with the President, ensure that newly elected and appointed Board members receive appropriate orientation materials no later than the start of their term. The President-Elect shall be responsible for the minutes of all DCTM general and board meetings to be recorded, sent to the President before approval by the Board of Directors, make the board meeting minutes available to all board members, and shall prepare summaries of all minutes for each newsletter. The President-Elect shall serve as President-Elect for one year and shall assume the office of President the following year. At the conclusion of the two-year term of office as President, the President shall become Past President and shall hold this office for a period of one year. The President-Elect shall chair the Nomination/Election Committee.
President: The President shall preside at all meetings, shall be the Chair of the Board of Directors, establish the agendas for the Board of Directors meetings, shall appoint all other committee chairs, shall direct the officers in their duties, and shall be responsible for the affairs of the organization during their term of office. The President shall write an article for each issue of the newsletter. The President shall be responsible for the onboarding of the President-Elect, including orientation to the duties of the office, organizational procedures, and current initiatives of the organization.
Grade Level Representatives: Each Grade Level Representative shall attend Math League invitationals and awards ceremonies for the appropriate grade level, shall organize Math Month activities, shall submit articles for two of the three editions of the newsletter during each school year, and shall serve on the Nomination/Election Committee in even years.
NCTM Representative/DCTM Membership Chair: The NCTM Representative/DCTM Membership Chair shall act as a liaison between DCTM and NCTM, shall organize the DCTM membership drive, prepare and maintain an accurate membership list, maintain the DCTM electronic listserv, attend the NCTM Delegate Assembly when participating in the NCTM Annual Conference, and submit pertinent NCTM or membership information to the newsletter.
